Blog Ideas

Sooo I want to start a serious blog. I know I'm kind of late in following that trend, but I want to write about something and gain a lot of followers and make it something with a specific audience and all that. The only problem is that every single thing I can think of to blog about has pretty much already been done. Soooo if anyone can give me any original ideas, that would be grrrreat! I'm thinking maybe a blog about skiing? Buuut then I'd actually have to travel around more to ski at places that I've never been before! Which really isn't in the current budget plan.

So, any ideas would be great! comment with ideas! I think anonymous people can comment too, but if not emails are good too

  1. I will have to think about topics more and BL is in Wenatchee for a few days so she may have some later too.

But here are two things I have learned about the matter!

    1. Check around lots of blogs for a subject that quite a few others also blog about - their cat(s) and knitting (with a picture each time) are two popular ones - for example.

    2. Then, for whatever topic you do blog on, go and comment regularly on the others like it. Then those bloggers will see your comment, click on your name and see your profile and your blog and then read it and comment! That is how I got several followers and commenters.

Also, with google blogger, you can tag each post with keywords that maybe trigger others to see it. I don't use that (or other advanced) features.

  2. I actually enjoyed your blog with its original premise: what's it like for a young woman at college. It only seemed as though there were more and broader topics for you to discuss. College campuses are often the hotbed of new ideas; certainly the temp home of fascinating people. What are the politics of folks at your campus? What do they think about the world they're going to inherit (and pay for) soon? How do you manage your time with lots of school work, working a job, having fun, spending time discussing fascinating issues? What is summer like? When do you have to start and how do you go about lining up a lucrative job? How do you get a job at school? How is it budgeting limited financial resources? I'd love if you wrote about the community of Ellensburg. I just returned from Wenatchee and finally got a handle on what's going on there. It just didn't seem "right" to be; I didn't get it. Who lives in E'burg and why? What's the process of evolving into the adult you will be? How do you decide what parts of your values and practices to take with you and which ones to leave behind? How do you re-configure your relationships with older (sometime more authoritative) people? What are your thoughts on taking a year off and backpacking thru some part of Europe? Or joining the Peace Corp. You are on the very edge of forming a life that will span the future. How do you prepare, what do you think, feel, wonder? You're such a good writer; I'd personally like to read your writings on these things. Just some thoughts.
