2 classes today, and then a lot of relaxing to be done! This weekend is going to be one of the first awesome weekends in quite a while, mainly because I have so little to do and the weather is sunny! Except it's still cold out, but it's perfect frisbee and soccer playing weather!
This morning I got up pretty early to go run around the inside track a bit, and on my walk there it was 24 degrees outside! Hopefully it warms up to how it has been the past few days so I can wear shorts.
Yesterday we were playing frisbee on the lawn in front of my friend's dorm and Loren hit me in the back of the leg with it so hard I have a big welted bruise now. Very pretty.
Tonight in Kara's dorm (since she has a 4-person suite thing) we're having a huge sleepover. We're going to move the mattresses into the living room area and all sleep out there! Then tomorrow we're planning on all going to see Shutter Island, which I've heard is fairly good.
OH, for all you runners out there who may or may not read this, have you heard of these shoes? Loren and my other friend Jarrod have them and say they're really great. Vibram FiveFingers
I'm thinking of getting a pair soon to run in, because after reading a bit of this book, Born to Run, I've been anxious to try running more. The book talks a lot about how naturally we're built to run but with the special athletic shoes we wear these days we end up getting more injuries than we should.
If you get the vibrams I'll be anxious to hear what you think. I know a couple people using them - neither dare run very far with them - they feel like maybe they will get hurt. The way you land is so different than with shoes. Maybe you can go further on the inside track.
ReplyDeleteI just started running again Feb 1. after taking almost a year off with all the shoulder surgeries and rehabs. I go out every other morning. Today I finally could run 1 1/2 miles without stopping! It takes a LONG time to get back in shape. It's a sad sad sight!
There is a relay run for 4-person teams where each guy goes once around the loop out at Wahington Park in Anacortes - a loop is 2 1/2 miles with hills! It is in mid-March. I am on a team so I HAVE to get in better shape!!!
That relay run sounds fun! Maybe next year I'll try to get a team together and do it!
