thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a fantastical holiday!

I went to Ocean Shores with my dad and stepmom and a couple of their friends for Thanksgiving. It was super fun to be at the ocean! The only problem with it was that there was no internet, so I wasn't able to work on a HUGE history paper that I have to do. It's due tomorrow and so far all I have is an outline. But no worries! I work best under pressure (or so I'd like to think).

So now I'm sitting in Starbucks in Bellevue waiting for mom to be done with church and then I will be back at Ellensburg! Lots of work to do once I get back there, I'll probably be up all night!

Home!

Leaving for home in about half an hour! I'm frantically trying to pack up all the things I'll need. I'm going to be home for a night, and then my dad is picking me up wednesday night and we are leaving for Ocean Shores early thursday morning! I'm super excited, I haven't been to Ocean Shores in quite awhile!

I have a lot to do for school while I'm there though... I have to study for finals and write a final paper for my history class. Luckily I'll have my dad there to help on that since he knows so much about American History!

Hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Snoqualmie!

Today was the Summit at Snoqualmie training day for ticket scanners. Kara and I left here at about 6:50 in the morning, got there at about 7:45, and then waited around for a bit for the training to start at 8. For the first part we sat around inside and read a packet, and then we went to Summit West to get uniforms. After that we learned how to work the scan guns, and then they put us out in the lines to try it out. It was pretty easy, and super fun to talk to all the people. I think it's going to be a fun job :)

Now I am super exhausted and I'm going to take a shower and sleep. Or maybe the other way around, I'm not sure.

Ick

When I went shopping last week I bought the reduced sugar oatmeal instead of the regular kind by accident and it is significantly less delicious.

Yesterday after Kara and I were done with our classes, we drove up to Snoqualmie so that she could drop off some paperwork and have a job up there. The road wasn't NEARLY as bad as everyone was making it out to be, there were only a couple places with slush on the road. Summit West was the only place open as of yesterday, but it looks like Summit Central is going to open soon, and Alpental is getting close as well. Seeing all the snow yesterday, and seeing the people at West skiing just made me want to ski even more!! AGH I'm freaking out!!

Then yesterday night at 7 we went to the first men's basketball game of the season, which was pretty cool. Central won by a lot. After the game was over I went back to my dorm to get ready for the midnight showing of the new Twilight movie, New Moon. We got to the movie theatre at 10 and the line for the movie was wrapped around the backside of the movie theatre! They didn't start playing the movie until 12:30, which made a lot of people mad, but it was still pretty fun to wait around. We played games on Kara's iPhone.

New Moon was a lot better than Twilight. Kristen Stewart actually showed some emotion and Taylor Lautner was hot stuff :) I don't know if I'm Team Edward or Team Jacob anymore (this is all really nerdy, I know) because reading the books I was Team Edward, but now that the wolves are all so hot in the movies, it makes me lean a little more Team Jacob. GAH I'm conflicted!

OK enough about that! Today I'm going to class and doing laundry. yaaaaaay...?

Winter Classes

I signed up for my classes today and got everything I had planned on taking!

At 9 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have English 102, and then at 9 on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have IT 101, which is a basic skills required computer course. Then on Mondays at 10 I have a Psychology Lab session. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays I have Psychology 101 at 11. Then every day of the week at 1 I have Anthropology 130.

Pretty cool! I know Kara and I both have IT, Psych, and English together for sure this quarter, so at least I'll know someone in those classes.

blarg

Today is a lazy day. Only have 2 classes, lots of reading to do for my history class, so I'm just holed up in my room doing that pretty much all day today.

I wrote a new poem today in history, it should be up on my fictionpress account now. I'm not sure if it's all that awesome, but it certainly got what I was feeling out of my head and that's the making of a good poem in my opinion.

Yesterday Rose and Kara and I walked to the movie theatre on the other side of town and bought our tickets for the midnight showing of New Moon this Thursday, which should be pretty fun. After we got the tickets we walked to Safeway and I bought a couple pomegranates to add to my current fruit collection. Then we got back to school, and I took a nap until our friend Tom's soccer games, which his team won both of. His team is SO intense and has really good players, so it's always fun to watch and cheer them on.

Last night was too cloudy to watch the meteor shower (DISAPPOINTMENT) so instead Loren came over and we watched The Fifth Element on his laptop and had kettle corn. Twas a good movie!

Tomorrow I sign up for next quarter's classes! Can't wait to see what I'll get!

fun times!

Yesterday my dad and stepmom came over! We went out to lunch with my friend Kara, and hung out for a bit in town. Also went shopping at Fred Meyer and stocked my fridge back up since I was running low on some things. Then they went to check into their hotel and I went back to my dorm and took a nap for a couple hours. Deborah learned how to crochet a while ago, so she decided to teach Kara and I, so we had a little crocheting circle in Kara's dorm with Kara, my dad, Deborah, Loren and I. It was pretty cool, although I have to say I'm still more of a knitter than a crocheter.

Then Loren came over and we finally finished watching Boondock Saints on his laptop in my room, and then we watched Pan's Labyrinth, which was a really good strange movie! Didn't fall asleep until about 3 in the morning. This morning I met Dad and Deborah in Starbucks and we sat and talked for about an hour. Then we went to the movie theatre and saw 2012. I had no desire to see that movie at first, since I don't really like disaster movies, but I have to admit that as far as disaster movies go, that one was pretty good. I still don't believe all that is going to happen, but twas a good movie all the same.

It kind of makes you think though. If the world was ending like that what would you do? Where would you go? Would you fight for your life even though it's probably all going to end anyway, or would you accept it and face the fact that you were going to die and then just sit in your living room and watch out the window as the world crumbles around you? Curious. I don't know what I would do. I would probably accept it and watch.

Tonight is homework night. Not sure how much I have to do, but it shouldn't take too long hopefully :)

SNOW!!

It has been snowing on and off here all day! The flakes are tiny, and not really enough of them to do much, but at least it's a start :)

Had a debate today in history about Andrew Jackson and the second-party system. It could have gone much better, but I didn't really take adequate time to prepare for it so it ended up being a very short debate. There was a lot more I could have said and more research I could have done, but oh well, at least it's over with now!

Dad and Deborah are coming up here to visit tomorrow! Hopefully the pass won't be too bad for them, but they do have Deborah's Subaru so I think they'll be ok. It's been dumping snow up there all day! 6 inches just since 5 a.m. this morning! I'm going to spend the rest of my time until English class at 3 cleaning up my room so it doesn't look too bad when they get here. Right now my desk is a mess; you can barely even see the top of it! But that's the way I like it :)

Think snow y'all! Oh, and happy Friday the 13th mwahahaha!

The Summer Set +Cartel = AWESOME night!

So last night, my friends Kara, Loren, and I went to a small venue in Seattle called El Corazon to see a couple of our favorite bands. We couldn't find it at first, so we parked and walked around in circles in the rain looking for it, until we stopped and asked directions and found out that we had only parked a block away from the place to begin with, we had just started walking in the wrong direction.

By the time we got to El Corazon, we were soaked and freezing. Luckily it was super crowded and warm inside! We didn't know the first band that played, so we stood near the back trying to dry off. Then the second band that played was one of my new favorite bands, The Summer Set, and they were AWESOME! Their music is really bouncy and fun to jump to, so we stepped further into the crowd and jumped around with everyone. We were still close to the back though, so every once in awhile I would step out of the crowd of people to catch my breath.

The next band that played was called This Providence, and they were pretty cool. I hadn't heard any of their music before, but they were really good, so I think I'm going to start listening to them. After that band was Kara's favorite band Cartel. We pushed our way up to the front for this one since Kara liked them so much and wanted to be closer. It was at this point that I found out that I am a LOT more claustrophobic than I ever thought I was. Even though we weren't too packed in, I was having a really hard time breathing, and then my brain started going into worst-case-scenario mode where I started thinking about all the most terrible things that could possibly happen and I couldn't stop myself. I was thinking things like, what if the roof collapses? What if there's a fire? What if I fall and get trampled? and those sorts of things. We stayed for about 5 or 6 songs, and then I started to get really dizzy and Kara's back hurt from standing for 3 hours, so we left early. I was tense and shaky for the rest of the night, even when we got back to Kara's house.

Overall, I'm glad that I went and got to see The Summer Set. I really like them, and it was super cool to see them! The whole claustrophobic-panic-attack thing kind of ended the night on a not so great note, but it's ok. Now I know for next time that unless I'm at an outdoor venue, I shouldn't get that close to the front of the stage!

back at e-burg!

Went home this weekend, got to see one of my besties Ben, who goes to Western. It was so nice to hang out with him again, it's been so long!

This week is going to be a busy one. Philosophy exam tomorrow, then a concert on tuesday... No school wednesday; I'll probably be using that day to prepare for a debate in my history class on friday. Then on friday or Saturday, dad and Deborah are coming over for a visit! I'm super excited, I really miss seeing dad every wednesday...

I haven't made anything in my crockpot yet, but I'm planning on going to Fred Meyer sometime this week to pick up some ingredients for something yummy! :)

halloween fun!

So this weekend has been pretty awesome!

That's Kara and I being rave girls before the dance :)
On Friday, there was the Halloween costume dance. My boyfriend and I decided not to go as Peter Pan and Wendy, instead we just got all dressed up like we were going to a rave. We broke glowsticks and poured them on our clothes, which was REALLY cool because we glowed all night long, but man, that stuff smells terrible! After the dance, we went back to Kara's dorm and played Mario Party 8 on the Wii and watched some movies. Didn't go to bed until about 2:30.

That's us before the corn maze in our awesome halloween sweaters we got from goodwill!
Then on Saturday we went to a haunted corn maze in Yakima! It was so scary, because it was dark and there were people hiding in the corn with creepy masks on and some of them had chainsaws and they would chase us all over the place! We went in with a group of 5, but when we were being chased we all got split up so that it was my friend Rose, Kara, and Thomas together and me and Loren together wandering around looking for each other. The group of 3 got out of the maze pretty soon, but Loren and I wandered around for about 20 minutes looking for them. After the maze, we went to Target and ran around for a bit, then to Dairy Queen and got ice cream and french fries. When we got back to Kara's dorm we watched a couple movies and stayed up until about 4 in the morning.

Today, we didn't do much. Kara and Loren and I went shopping at Fred Meyer for some healthy food, since I've been eating pretty much nothing but candy lately and would like to get out of that habit. I got more oatmeal, a block of cheese, some apples, chips and salsa, and carrots and some other  yummy things to snack on! No more candy for me for awhile! It's hard to not eat candy when we have the dollar store so nearby and I can get tons of candy for really cheap.
